Eydie Galper
Vice President of Strategic Relations
A San Diego native and graduate of UCLA, Eydie Galper comes to the LAEDC in March 2007 from CONNECT in San Diego, a highly successful non-profit organization dedicated to creating and sustaining the growth of innovative technology and life sciences businesses in San Diego. Since its founding in 1985 by UC San Diego, CONNECT has assisted in the formation and development of more than 1,000 companies and is widely regarded as the nation's most successful regional program linking inventors and entrepreneurs with the resources they need for success.
Ms. Galper has a strong background in high tech industry, having spent three years as a product manager with Qualcomm where she led the launch of the pdQ Smartphone, an industry-first consumer data device combining a Palm Pilot and a digital wireless phone. From Qualcomm, Ms. Galper moved to Think Outside, Inc., the manufacturer of the award-winning Stowaway Portable Keyboard, the world's first full-size keyboard for PDA's that folds to pocket size, where she served as Director and later Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Galper earned her MBA with a marketing emphasis from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. Ms. Galper served as Senior Manager of Sales Readiness at Gateway, Inc. before joining CONNECT as Director of Membership and Development where she reported directly to the CEO and was responsible for growing and sustaining the organization's revenues, leading the CONNECT Policy Committee and representing CONNECT in the San Diego community. In 2006, working closely with her CEO, Ms. Galper more than doubled CONNECT’S membership revenues from $500,000 to more than $1.2 million and added nearly 100 new members to the organization.
