Kimberly Ritter
Associate Economist
Kyser Center for Economic Research
Kimberly Ritter joined LAEDC in January 2009 as Associate Economist in the Kyser Center for Economic Research. She works with the Founding Economist and Chief Economist to prepare the Kyser Center’s regular economic reports and periodic briefings presented to corporate and government groups. She is the editor of the e-EDGE, LAEDC’s weekly economic newsletter. She also writes the retail trade, residential and nonresidential construction outlooks for LAEDC’s Economic Forecasts as well as the outlook for Orange and San Diego Counties. Recently, she co-authored Entertainment and the Media in Los Angeles, L.A. Stats 2009 and a report for the Otis College of Art & Design on the region’s creative economy.
Ms. Ritter earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (cum laude and Phi Kappa Phi) in Economics from California State University, Long Beach while working fulltime. Concentrating in environmental and transportation economics, Ms. Ritter co-authored a study on employment in international trade-related industries in Southern California. She is also pursuing additional course work in economics and finance. Prior to joining LAEDC, Kimberly worked in the automotive industry and managed the international division of a forest products company.
Ms. Ritter is active in the Long Beach League of Women Voters as a board member (media and public relations) and is a member of the chapter’s Speakers Bureau, which provides legislative analysis of propositions and bond measures to community groups during local elections. Ms. Ritter is also a member of the National and Los Angeles chapter of NABE and the American Economics Association.
