Myasnik (Nik) Poghosyan
Associate Economist
Myasnik “Nik” Poghosyan is an Associate Economist in the Economic and Policy Analysis Group of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC). In this capacity, Mr. Poghosyan collects, organizes and analyzes data, contributes to the studies and projects undertaken by the Analysis Group and conducts geospatial analysis. His work focuses on policy and economic impact analyses, economic research, as well as transportation and environmental issues in Los Angeles County and Southern California. Mr. Poghosyan is also proficient at building industry-specific and area-specific economic impact models using RIMS II multipliers and IMPLAN software.
Mr. Poghosyan joined the LAEDC in July of 2007 as an Analyst subsequent to his position as an intern at the Los Angeles Economy and Jobs Committee, where he assisted members of the “Doing Business in LA” task force with cross-city business tax comparison analysis. He was also involved in examining the direct and indirect effects of the gross receipts tax imposed on firms in the City of Los Angeles.
A native of Armenia, Mr. Poghosyan received his AA in Statistics from the Armenian State University of Economics in 1999. To continue his undergraduate studies, he moved to the United States in the same year. Currently, he holds a BA in Economics from California State University, Northridge, and completed the graduate coursework in economics at California State University, Los Angeles.
Mr. Poghosyan is National Relations Chair with the Los Angeles Chapter of National Association for Business Economics (NABE) and has been an active member of the national NABE since 2008.
