Sequoia Holifield
Assistant Manager, Business Assistance and Development
Sequoia has been with the LAEDC for eight years serving first as the Business Assistance Representative for the BAP Department and most recently as the Business Assistance Coordinator. As an integral part of the BAP Team, Sequoia is responsible for supporting the LAEDC’s mission to attract, expand and retain business growth and economic vitality in the regions of Los Angeles County. Sequoia has been a vital part in the LAEDC’s milestone of helping to retain and expand 135,000 jobs to the County in the past 10 years.
Her responsibilities include acting as the first point of contact for the Business Assistance Program. Here she works to fulfill various business related requests by providing direct assistance or qualified referrals to LAEDC Regional Managers and other external free/low cost resources. Sequoia accumulated a wealth of knowledge regarding free/low cost technical assistance as the Coordinator of the LAEDC’s Regional Business Assistance Network (RBAN), a collaboration of local service providers working to educate, connect and add strategic value to their individual programs.
Sequoia also serves as the organization’s marketing representation at major tradeshows and sponsored events throughout the year. She contributes heavily to grant writing and contract management for the Business Development Department.
In addition to her current responsibilities, she will have oversight of four L. A. County regions, including Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, San Gabriel Valley and the Westside, assist in the creation of new BAP marketing materials as well as the revitalization of the RBAN.
A native of California, Sequoia was born in Berkeley, and currently resides in Los Angeles. Before joining the LAEDC, she attended California State University, Chico where she obtained a B.S. in Business Administration with an option in Production Operations Management. She also holds a Certificate in Technical Writing.
