Located at the California Institute of Technology, the Kavli Nanoscience Institute (KNI) emphasizes in nanobiotechnology, nanophotonics, and large-scale integration of nanosystems. A core mission of the KNI is to push the state-of-the-art beyond current capabilities in nanofabrication. To this end, the KNI has pursued acquisition of strategic instrumentation for advanced nanofabrication capabilities. KNI’s multi-user laboratories and cleanrooms for nanostructure synthesis, fabrication, and characterization are available to users from both academia and industry.
“In launching the Kavli Nanoscience Institute (KNI) Caltech is culminating its effort on nanoscale science and technology by building and formalizing a coherent effort founded upon the substantial collaborative interactions in nanoscience and nanotechnology that originated, and have been ongoing, ‘within the trenches’ during this period.”
