Industry Report Coming from CCW: Entertainment and Digital Media

Center for a Competitive Workforce will soon release a report about the Entertainment and Digital Media Industry in Los Angeles.  The report will, for the first time, quantify the jobs in the entertainment industry combined with the closely related “digital media” industry, which together make L.A. the #1 global center for the jobs and economic impact of this combined industry cluster.  The report will also examine the industry cluster’s middle-skill jobs and occupations, the talent pipeline, current skills requirements, and related workforce development issues, to help colleges further align curricula and programs with industry requirements.  The report also represents the first time in the nation that the Digital Media industry cluster has been defined and analyzed.

This will be the first deep-dive industry cluster report produced by Center for a Competitive Workforce, a partnership between LAEDC, LA Area Chamber of Commerce, and the region’s community colleges (LA|OC Regional Consortium of Community Colleges).  CCW’s first report, in October 2017 looked at a sampling of middle-skill occupations across different industries, which tap into talent developed through the California Community College System.  The work of CCW supports better alignment of talent development systems with the changing skills needs of local key industries.  This is a new phase of economic development for the LA region, vital because jobs of the future require new skill sets.  Local employers in our key industries are striving to find qualified candidates, and many LA County residents seek greater opportunity, and the CCW partnership works to address both issues.

The report is due to be released February 8th 2018, at a kickoff event for the new DME Industry Council in DTLA.  Learn more about the event HERE.
