Biocom’s 2020 Economic Impact Report highlights the growth of lifesciences industry in CA

LAEDC partner Biocom, an organization dedicated to assisting business growth and hiring in the region’s lifesciences/biosciences industry has published a new report on the increasing size of the industry in California.

The report finds that the region of Los Angeles County received more than $1.15 billion in NIH funding in fiscal year 2019, the largest amount of any other county in California, which is a powerful force in driving innovation and employment.  According to Biocom, in LA County, the lifesciences industry employs more than 93,000 individuals in 2019 across 2,890 establishments, and all sectors of the life science industry in the region generated $44.2 billion in economic activity.
