LAEDC Eddy Awards to honor California State University, Dominguez Hills

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) will honor California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) at this year’s Eddy Awards. CSUDH is the 2019 Education Honoree; a category that recognizes excellence in academia and outstanding efforts to provide access to higher education in Los Angeles.

For over five decades, CSUDH has made notable contributions to foster community engagement and to support economic sustainability; working with local partners to provide its scholars with a pathway to success, while advocating for inclusion and opportunities for all.

The majority of CSUDH’s alumni are first-generation college students, who upon graduation become educators, business leaders, entrepreneurs, public servants, policymakers, artists, entertainers and health professionals. The university is at the forefront of the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in local school districts, and its Center for Innovation in STEM Education is producing some of the most talented STEM teachers in the region.

CSUDH has been awarded some of the most prestigious accolades in the education sector. Chief among them, recognitions for accessibility and affordability; community service, public good, diversity and career outcomes. In 2017, the U.S. News & World Report named CSUDH among its “Top 100 Most Ethnically Diverse Universities in the West.” CSUDH is regarded as one of the top educational institutions in the country.

California State University, Dominguez Hills is the proud sponsor of the LAEDC’s Future Forums series, which help explore innovative industries that will shape the city’s growth and economic development. The institution will share LAEDC Eddy Awards’ accolade’s spotlight with Citi, the Corporate Honoree, and Phil Washington, Metro’s CEO, the Individual Honoree.

The Eddy Awards will take place on November 7, 2019. The annual event celebrates exceptional contributions to economic development in the LA region, consistent with LAEDC’s focus on increasing shared prosperity for our residents and communities.
